Pay attention to the distances, altimetry and the step-by-step of the entire route available in the TRACK menu.
Book in advance the accommodation facilities you will be staying in. Here on the site you will find the complete list of these equipments.
Weather forecast
Keep an eye on the weather forecast to make your trip as enjoyable as possible.
Food and Hydration
Always have water and food with you! Sometimes, between one support point and another, hunger and thirst hits and it is very important to maintain hydration during a cycle touring journey.
Carry water, isotonic, fresh or/and dried fruit, cereal bars and crackers. If possible, eat one more hearty, carbohydrate-based meal a day.
Secure your supplies. Buy the necessary products in urban centers or at the points indicated on this site, as in some parts there are no markets, restaurants and other support services.
Cares with the body
How is your body? Check your physical conditions before doing the cycle tourism. Get ready by training.
Use plenty of sunscreen. The region is warm and sunny most of the year.
Clothing, Equipment and Accessories
The cyclist must wear appropriate footwear and clothing for this practice. In training, wear the shoes you intend to travel with. Foot care is very important on longer itineraries.
To enjoy the route more harmoniously, take only what you absolutely need in your backpack. The ideal backpack should be well assembled, inside and out. In other words, it is essential, when filling it out, to check from the outside if any part of the fabric is loose, a sign of an empty place and, therefore, misuse.
Ideally, the backpack should be fully stretched, with clothes, equipment and food filling it entirely. Keep your lunch, anorak (waterproof jacket) and water handy, as well as other things you use frequently. Finish packing your backpack with the foods that, in addition to being heavy, are also the most used.
It is advisable to bring extra clothes and shoes to avoid hypothermia on cold and/or rainy days. For hot days, wear light clothes.
The equipment to be used varies according to the person. There are specialized shops for cycling activities. When in doubt, consult people with experience and always opt for the minimum necessary.
Take equipment to help you in unforeseen circumstances, such as a headlight and rear lighting, a backup camera and tools for simple repairs. However, if you need a more elaborate repair for your bike, below is a list of companies specializing in this segment in each city on the Route:
Notify People
Warn people! Always let someone know your itinerary, preferably with locations and days.
Always have an emergency contact handy, because unforeseen events happen.
Beyond Samu (192); Military Police (190) and Fire Department (193), we also have here on the site the contacts of the tourism departments of the cities that make up the itinerary.
Respect for the environment
Do not leave residues such as food and plastics on the way. Gather them in bags and take them to the nearest dump.
Do not feed wild animals.
Do not make fires (use stoves). Respect the residents of the region.
For when there are no support points nearby, you can dig a hole to relieve yourself, then place the toilet paper and cover it up again.
